The Biodynamic Cranial Approach, or Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST), emerged from the philosophical roots of Osteopathy. It views each person as an integrated whole — body, mind, and spirit — whose life story is held within their physical and energetic being in a field of inherent health.
Throughout life, physical or emotional stress may influence how the body organizes itself. BCST practitioners use gentle, quiet touch to listen to subtle rhythms and patterns, supporting the body’s natural movement toward ease, balance and coherence.
Rather than focusing on symptoms, this is a health-oriented model acknowledges the body’s intrinsic wisdom and capacity for restoring its own organization.
Change is constant throughout life and becomes especially present during serious illness during illness and at life’s end. From a Biodynamic Osteopathic perspective, expressions of Health – clarity, stillness, organization –continue to appear even in the final stages of life.
Through quiet presence and gentle touch, the practitioner offers support for comfort, ease and inner settling. Many individuals experience this as creating a peaceful space in which the natural process of transition can unfold with dignity.
This work does not replace medical care, but may complement it providing an atmosphere of calm, grounding and compassionate presence.
Osteopathy was founded by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, a physician who sought a deeper understanding of health and human wholeness.
Dr. Still saw the human being as a unified expression of body, mind, and spirit, and famously described the body as “God’s drugstore,” endowed with profound inherent wisdom.
On June 22, 1874, he experienced an insight that shaped the philosophy and hands-on approach of Osteopathy – a way of understanding the person as a living whole animated by forces of Health and organization.
This approach may be especially helpful for individuals experiencing:
A Biodynamic Cranial session aims to support the body in settling toward a neutral state—where the nervous system may find greater ease, spaciousness, and coherence.
In such conditions, the body’s natural organizing forces can express themselves more clearly, allowing a person to experience greater comfort, presence, and wholeness.
Sessions are conducted fully clothed in a calm, quiet setting. You may feel a light contact at areas such as the head, shoulders, diaphragm, sacrum, or feet. Movements are gentle and subtle, and clients often notice calming sensations, soft shifts, or deep stillness.
At times, a gentle vibrating instrument tuned to harmonic frequencies may be used to support relaxation. The experience is typically soothing and peaceful.
