Osteopathically-informed Craniosacral Therapy is a very gentle form of hands-on care offered within the scope of massage therapy. It draws upon traditional osteopathic principles, a biodynamic tradition, and many years of clinical experience in anesthesiology, pain medicine, hospice care, together with service as an ordained Orthodox Christian priest. It views the person as an integrated unity of body and soul, recognizing that illness, injury, and life experiences affect the whole person rather than isolated parts.
Each session is individualized and guided by careful observation and attentive hands-on listening rather than by a predetermined protocol.
During a session there are no forceful manipulations or attempts to “put things back into place.” My hands may rest gently beneath the head, along the shoulders, back, sacrum, or other appropriate areas. Gentle massage techniques may be incorporated when appropriate. Through quiet, attentive hands-on contact, I seek to recognize and support the person’s inherent processes of adaptation and healing.
Rather than attempting to “fix” what is wrong, the intention is to support the person’s own inherent capacity for adaptation toward greater coherence, wholeness, and peace.
